Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic is one of the five people from Medjugorje who have had an apparition of Mary since 1981. Taj, Inas' daughter, is ill and there is no cure. She is suffering from neutropenia from birth. Her body creates far too few white blood cells. Soon, Inas will lose her third child. two of Taj's siblings have also died from an incurable hereditary illness.
When Inas found out that Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic was coming to Bethlehem with an international group of pilgrims, Inas, a Muslim, categorically wanted to pray with Vicka for her daughter. But she couldn't bring her daughter to the public event. The risk would have been too great, as Tja's immune system is not strong enough to protect her. Through an employee at the Caritas Baby Hospital, Inas' concerns reached Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic. She didn't hesitate and was at the Caritas Baby Hospital the very next day. Inas' wish came true. Vicka Ivankovic-Mijatovic also went to the other units in the hospital and prayed with the nurses, mothers and children. This visit and the meetings were a highly impressive, spiritual experience.
"Christians, Muslims and Jews – we all pray to the same God", said Father Michael Schweiger, President of Children's Relief Bethlehem. "If we feel the positive power of prayer, the conversation with God, it is even more unclear why religion should be the reason for conflicts and wars."
