Training Successfully Completed

“We did it!“ Hussein cried ecstatically after the commencement ceremony in the Main Hall of the Caritas Baby Hospital. His shining eyes clearly show his joy. All 15 students, both men and women, successfully completed the two-year nursing course in early August. All are proud of their new profession. “This marks the beginning of a whole new phase in our lives,” says Hussein. “We must carry a lot of responsibility, because we’ll be working with people who trust us with their health.”

Since 1970, as part of its “Helping People Help” program, the Nursing School of Children’s Relief Bethlehem has offered young men and women the opportunity to learn a profession as medical care providers. The course comprises one year of theory and a further year with periods of practical training at the Caritas Baby Hospital and other hospitals in the region.

Despite the enthusiasm at their success, all 15 graduates are of a single opinion: “We will all miss the
Caritas Baby Hospital very much,“ says Abed, speaking for his classmates. “The two years we spent here have been some of the best in our lives. The positive atmosphere and the team spirit have made us one family. We are very grateful for this unforgettable experience.”

The next nursing course, the hospital’s thirty-first, comprising 21 men and women, has already been under way for several days now.
