Second Hip Ultrasound Course at the Caritas Baby Hospital

A hip ultrasound exam is one of the regular checks carried out on babies in many countries of the world. This examination is part of the routine at the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem as well. Newborns are screened In this way for the first signs of hip malformation (developmental dysplasia of the hip, or DDH), so that early treatment can be given. A hip ultrasound course at the Caritas Baby Hospital in mid-August gave medical professionals in the Bethlehem area the opportunity to learn all about this preventive tool. For the children, the check is completely harmless and pain-free. Austria’s Dr. Reinhard Graf, inventor of the method, travelled to the Caritas Baby Hospital especially for the course. He was assisted by his colleague, Dr. Hubert Hayek from Berlin.
A total of 21 doctors from the West Bank region and Jordan took part in the three-day course. Their reaction was enthusiastic. Participants considered it a very special experience to work together with Dr. Graf and learn directly from the renowned specialist. In addition, the course provided attendees with a welcome opportunity to exchange views with their colleagues from other hospitals and extend their personal contacts.
