It is with deep sorrow that Children’s Relief Bethlehem announces the death of Professor Roberto Boscaini of Verona, who died on 3 February at the age of 92. Professor Boscaini was a pioneer for Children’s Relief Bethlehem in Italy.
Professor Boscaini placed his ample love and generosity at the service of those mothers and children of Bethlehem who turn to the Caritas Baby Hospital for aid. His heart was moved by their need. Children’s Relief Bethlehem owes him a large debt of gratitude. In Professor Boscaini we lose a great friend and patron of our organisation.
Professor Boscaini became acquainted with the Caritas Baby Hospital on one of his many travels to the Holy Land. He always thought it important to find out about the people who live in this land today, not only visit the holy sites of the Bible. Thus, Professor Boscaini developed a special relationship to the children and mothers of Bethlehem. He returned to Bethlehem 66 times, always bringing medicines, clothes and donations. He talked tirelessly of the hospital both within his circle of friends and far beyond. He was also instrumental in founding the Italian branch of Children’s Relief Bethlehem, which will carry on his commitment.
