Groundbreaking Ceremony Held

With a groundbreaking ceremony on 14 February, Franciscan representatives Pastor Michael Schweiger and Pastor Artemio Vitores initiated work on the extension and renovation of the Caritas Baby Hospital. Braving a rain shower, the clergymen blessed the building site, and afterward invited attendees into the chapel of the Caritas Baby Hospital, where the project was presented in greater detail.

The present structure will be enlarged by a new outpatient clinic comprising seven treatment rooms, three waiting rooms and further space for offices and general administration. This expansion will allow treatment of up to 50,000 children annually – 20,000 more than in past years. The Mothers’ School will also be enlarged: to 12 rooms, with a total of 43 beds. This will permit more mothers to remain with their children, supporting the small patients during the healing process.
