In a traditional society such as Palestine, a woman with a job is still responsible for the children and the household. Only a few occupations allow a woman to combine a job with a family. One of these occupations is nursing.

Since 1970, Children’s Relief Bethlehem has thus focused on training women – and recently men as well – in its School of Nursing. Each year, newly qualified healthcare graduates either take up regular jobs in the Caritas Baby Hospital or leave to find employment at other hospitals.
The school has the status of a college and has won repeated recognition as the best vocational school in Palestine. Currently, 25 young people are enrolled in the two-year course. The shool has three spatious classrooms, a room with training mannequins and hospital beds for practical exercises, and a library with computer workstations.
