A Child’s New Smile
More than 300,000 children live in the area served directly by the Caritas Baby Hospital (Bethlehem and Hebron) region alone. For these children, not even basic health services are routinely available. This is why the Caritas Baby Hospital in Bethlehem is vital to the region’s health care system. It is the only hospital that integrates the mothers into its child care concept.
Medical Care for All the Children
The doors of the Caritas Baby Hospital have stood open to all children and mothers, every day, without interruption, since 1952. Father Ernst Schnydrig founded the hospital with the goal of providing at least basic medical health care to the children suffering from the effects of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. For these children, the Caritas Baby Hospital is an oasis of quiet and peace yet today.
The hospital’s outpatient clinic treats around 30,000 children annually. The 82 hospital beds provide inpatient care to 4,000 children each year.
